Covid-19 Response
Gorgie Collective has received funding from the Scottish Government and National Lottery Community Fund Scotland to support our community during the recent pandemic. During lockdown, we have launched several new projects to reach out to local people and engage with them creatively. We believe that engagement with creative and making activities has supported improved wellbeing and provided opportunities for new social connections at a difficult time for many people.
Letters from an Artist
We sent out 33 Maker's Mail packages to members of our community and to those shielding. Each parcel contained a mini-artwork created by the sending artist as well as a personalised letter to lift the recipients' spirits.

Monthly Zoom Workshops
We have been running monthly online creative workshops for adults in our community. These Zoom workshops have featured a variety of arts and crafts such as pom-pom making, landscape and oil painting and papercraft. Our attendees have described the workshops as: "fun, creative, colourful, relaxing and uplifting!"

Public Art
We installed a new public artwork in our local park in June 2020. The 'Harlequin Fence' was installed in White Park on Gorgie Road on the Summer Solstice. It symbolises optimism, blossoming and regrowth after a challenging year. This public artwork can be viewed anytime and we hope brings a moment of joy to peoples' day.

Gorgie Perspectives Competition
We organised an online summer art competition on the theme of 'Gorgie Perspectives'. We received a variety of exciting entries in a range of art forms, including: painting, sketching, collage, illustration, digital art and printmaking. Competition entries are available in an online exhibition on our website.

New Normal - Community Project
We are currently supporting several post-lockdown transitional community projects. These projects help local people to re-engage with creative and cultural activities safely, whilst maintaining social distancing in an outdoor environment. The projects take advantage of our local green spaces and include Art in the Park (White Park, Gorgie) and Yoga in the Park (Murieston Park, Dalry).
